Scientific Background

I have a background as an Environmental Chemist, with a degree in Analytical Chemistry and a PhD in Agricultural/Environmental Chemistry. I am specialised in trace element analysis and speciation in various environmental matrices by using a combination of techniques (AAS, ICP-OES, ICP-MS, XRD, XRF, SEM and x-ray synchrotron based spectroscopy). Before joining the Plant Chemistry Group at Bangor University I worked for the Italian Regional Agency for Environmental Protection on projects of statistical elaboration of environmental pollution data and for the European Commission Institute for Reference Materials and Measurements, developing environmental reference materials for inorganic analysis.

I am currently working within the WISE Network on a number of projects related to local SMEs and the development of more sustainable products.
